Приклад запитання: Visit the Edinburgh Festival Every year thousands of people come to Edinburgh, the capital city of Scotland, to be the part of the Edinburgh festival. For three weeks every August and September the city is filled with actors and artists from all over the world. They come to Edinburgh for the biggest art festival in Britain. During this time the streets of the city are alive with music and dance from early in the morning until late at night. You can see even artists painting pictures on the streets! Tens of thousands of tourists come to the festival to see new films and plays and to hear music played by famous musicians. This year you can see over five hundred performances with actors from more than forty countries. The tickets for these performances are quite cheap and it is usually easier to see your favourite star in Edinburgh than it is in London. So come to Edinburgh next summer!1) Edinburgh is the capital city of Scotland.

Приклад запитання: Read the story. Use the information in the story to answer the questions below. At Boarding School I hated almost every day of my time at boarding school and, in my case; my first term was a disaster. I found it very difficult to settle down, and my unhappiness was made worse because I was also unhappy at home. A happy home life gives you a base from which you can go into the world with confidence. But if life at home is difficult, life away at boarding school is almost impossible. Apart from having to keep to a great many rules and customs, many of which seemed to me stupid we were never allowed to be alone. You had to be with another boy at all times. I am extremely dependent on being alone part of every day, so daily life at school was very hard for me, though the other boys managed fairly well. In the middle of the first term I developed a cough. The school nurse said it was a 'stomach - cough', whatever that may be, and gave me some pills. However, playing football in a snowstorm, I suddenly could not breathe properly and was taken to the hospital ill with bronchitis and pneumonia. Almost at once I was put into a small room with another boy who was also very ill. He died and I nearly did. My main memory of my stay at the hospital was that the night-nurses used to get together in my room and play cards and chat. Keeping the light on and keeping me awake when I was seriously ill didn't bother them. When I had recovered I was sent home for a few weeks and missed a term. When I returned to school, I was sent to bed early because of my illness, and so managed to get a brief period alone every day. Later on, when I went into the senior part of the school I was allowed to go to the school library by myself, which was a great improvement. The day I left the school, the headmaster said good bye and asked whether it was a sad day for me. I replied that it was the happiest day of my life. He said I would come to think of my time at the school very differently. I said that I was sure that I would not. Though I have had unhappy days since that day, I have found that my conclusions then – that nothing afterwards could ever be so bad as boarding school- have been proved true. 1. The boy’s… was a disaster.

Приклад запитання: 1. Read the text and do the tasks.Like all large cities, London has a lot of different parts and the river joins them together. The oldest part of it is the City of London. There was a town here when the Romans came. The Romans built a new city with a bridge and a city wall. It became an important part with many industries. Today the City is an international financial centre, full of offices and banks. Over 2 million people work in the city during the day, but only a few thousand live there.London hasn't always been the capital of England. The first capital was Winchester. But London has always been the richest city. The kings of England often needed money. So they moved their capital close to London. But they didn't want to live in London itself. It was dirty, smelly and dangerous. So they made their capital at Westminster. At first the two cities of London and Westminster were separate and there were fields between them. But slowly they grow together into one city. Until the 20th century most people and goods travelled between the different parts of London along the Thames. It was quicker and safer to travel along the river than along the roads. The kings built their city of Westminster to the west of the City, because the prevailing wind in Britain is from the West. This wind blew all the smells from the port and the factories in London towards the east. As the city grew, the rich people lived in the West End and poor people lived in the East End.This is changing now, because the docks and a lot of the industries in the East End have closed. Now Dockland is becoming a new financial centre and a fashionable place to live.1)TRUE OR FALSEThe kings built their city of Westminster to the west of the City.

Приклад запитання: Three experiences I have hadDear Sir / Madam,I would like to apply for the job of tour leader for your Overland Africa tours. I have had lots of useful experience for this role.I have spent five months backpacking around Africa. In 2018, I visited Ethiopia, Kenya and Tanzania. I used local transport and organised my own accommodation, food and visas. I enjoyed meeting local people, learning about local traditions and visiting natural parks. I read and learned a lot about the culture and wildlife, and I even learned some Swahili and Afrikaans. This trip taught me to be independent and to organise travel arrangements.I have also worked as a leader at a children’s summer camp in the south of England. I worked there in 2017. I led activities for children aged 9-12, including football, climbing and campfire songs and games. For this work, I received training in climbing instruction and first aid. During this time, I developed many useful skills. For example, I had to ensure the children were always safe and happy. I learned how to be helpful and positive, and I also learned ways to entertain people and help them make friends when they are with strangers. Finally, I have completed the Active Youth Challenge. I did this while I was at high school in 2016. To complete this challenge, I firstly had to volunteer with a local organisation. I helped at a social club for the elderly, where I chatted and played games with the members. The experience taught me to be patient and friendly. Secondly, I had to learn something by myself. I learned car mechanics. This taught me some useful, practical skills. Thirdly, I organised a four-day camping and hiking trip in the Scottish mountains with other students from my school. This experience taught me about camping equipment and how to deal with problems like bad weather and getting lost.I believe I have lots of useful experience to work as an Overland Tour Guide. I would love the opportunity to tell you more about my skills at an interview.Yours faithfully,Nicholas RigbyWhen did Nicholas do these things?learn languages
